Day 25
Mitchell, SD to Sioux Falls, SD
Miles: 73 mi
Elevation Gain: 1,453 ft
Today’s Ride
After the excitement of hitting the halfway point yesterday, Day 25 was a little less thrilling. We rode 73 miles with 1,453 feet of climbing, and while it wasn’t a particularly hard day on paper, it felt long.
The best part of the morning was having my parents send me off from Mitchell — such a boost to start the day! From there, it was mostly cornfields and soybean fields as far as the eye could see, with a hefty side wind to keep things interesting.
Even with the monotony of the scenery, our group made the most of it, keeping spirits up and pushing each other along. As always, it felt good to roll into the hotel at the end of the day.
Dinner was on our own tonight, and a group of 12 of us headed to Crawford’s Bar & Grill. It was delicious and a fun way to end the day — highly recommend if you’re ever in Sioux Falls!
Not every day can be breathtaking views and landmarks, but even on the quiet days, the camaraderie keeps this journey special. Tomorrow we head into Minnesota — our 8th state — and it’s our longest ride yet: 126 miles. Please send tailwind prayers! 🙏🌬
