Day 14
Three Forks, MT to Bozeman, MT
Miles: ~48 mi
Elevation Gain: 1,300 ft (ish)
Today’s Ride
Last night our bikes were stored in a party tent behind the hotel — complete with a dance floor! This morning, before we even rolled out, Caroline from the UK had us all laughing by leading the group in The Rowing Boat — a quirky craze from the UK in the 80s. A hilarious way to start the day!
Not long after we clipped in, the group decided to add about 5 extra miles to the ride so we could visit the headwaters of the Missouri River, where the Jefferson, Madison, and Gallatin Rivers merge. It was a cool sight to see and worth the extra miles!
Shortly after, we hit another huge milestone — the 1,000 mile mark of the trip. Woohoo! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
The Bike World Connections
As we neared Bozeman, we were met by Bruce, a P2P 2022 veteran, who rode in with us, bringing fresh legs and great energy. At the finish, we were greeted by Pat, another P2P 2022 veteran who I first met at Trek Ride Camp in Greenville. Pat also happens to be good friends with my friend Sandy from Kalamazoo (also a P2P 2022 veteran). It really is a small world in the bike community! And great to meet other people who have been on this same adventure!
Pat treated me to a wonderful lunch at Jam! — a great spot in downtown Bozeman — and after a short walk around the city, it was… off to the laundromat!
Last night, I had some time to look back at photos from the ride so far, and I already find myself reminiscing. I am profoundly grateful for this opportunity to see our country from this vantage point — mile by mile, sunrise to sunset, surrounded by so much natural beauty.
The U.S. is wide, vast, and breathtaking, and every day brings new perspectives. Life throws us opportunities in unexpected ways, and I’m so glad I said “yes” to this adventure — especially with such an amazing group of people to share it with. 💗 Thanks for all your love, support, and positive vibes - it keeps me going!
