Day 7
Walla Walla, WA to Lewiston, ID
Miles: 99.75 mi
Elevation Gain: 5,260 ft
Today’s Ride
Almost 100 miles today — 99.75 to be exact! A few riders circled the parking lot to round up to triple digits, but honestly, I felt perfectly fine calling it a day just shy of 100.
The best part? It finally cooled off! After days of riding in the heat, today was in the mid-70s to 80s, with rain for the last 20 miles. It felt like such a treat.
The Day in Moments
The day started with breakfast at Clarette’s, a local diner in downtown Walla Walla. Nothing like a delicious greasy-spoon breakfast to kick off a long ride! 🍳🥓
Lunch was a quick stop next to a grain silo — simple and delicious.
Most of today’s route followed Highway 12. The scenery was beautiful, but sharing the road with semis and steady traffic kept me on high alert.
At around mile 95, we crossed a bridge into Idaho — our third state of the trip! (3 of 15). WooHoo!
The landscapes continue to amaze: more of those rolling golden wheat fields that stretch on forever.
This was a long, tiring day, but the cooler weather made such a difference. Crossing into another state felt huge — each one brings us closer to Maine. I’m exhausted, but grateful, and I can feel myself starting to settle into the rhythm of this ride.
