Day 8

Lewiston, ID to Kamiah, ID

  • Miles: 80 mi

  • Elevation Gain: 5,698 ft

Today’s Ride
Hard to believe we’re already on Day 8! At this point, everyone is settling into a routine, and the rhythm of the road feels a little more natural each day.

Today’s ride was beautiful: another golden sunrise, rolling wheat fields, stretches of forest, and winding rivers. The big challenge was a 16-mile climb — slow and steady, but worth it for the incredible scenery. Along the climb, we came across a one-lane construction zone. The wonderful crew stopped traffic and escorted us safely through the 1.5-mile stretch. Whoever you are — thank you! It would have been nerve-racking otherwise.

The Day in Moments

  • 🌄 Gorgeous scenery: sunrise, wheat fields, forests, rivers

  • 🏔 A 16-mile climb that tested the legs but felt rewarding

  • 👷‍♂️ Kind construction workers who made the road safer for us

  • 🍕 A charming motel in Kamiah (Clearwater Motel 12) and a pizza party hosted by our guides in the parking lot since dining options were limited

  • 💦 A dip in the river right next to our motel — the cold water was the perfect recovery soak for tired legs

Today, my legs finally felt like they knew what they were supposed to do — pedal. Despite a few aches and pains, I am feeling good! The camaraderie in this group continues to shine, and the support from our guides makes everything smoother (and more fun).

Tomorrow we head into Montana — and our first rest day is just around the corner in Missoula on Sunday. But first, a BIG day is on deck: 115 miles tomorrow (Friday) with lots of climbing. Here goes nothing!

Thanks so much for your love, encouragement, and positive vibes — they mean the world. 😘
