Elevation Gain: 7,835 ft | 2,388 m
Today’s Ride
Today was our biggest climbing day of the entire trip — and wow, it was brutal. The ride started out beautiful and breathtaking, but it quickly turned into a real test of endurance.
Early in the day we had a 10-mile jaunt on the shoulder of I-84, which was an experience in itself — nothing quite like riding on the interstate! After that, the heat set in 🥵, and we were out on blacktop roads with no shade whatsoever.
The last 30 miles packed in over half of today’s total climbing, just when we were already hot and tired. A few of us ladies took a quick dip in a stream before tackling the longest climb of the day — 8.64 miles — which was as tough as it sounds, but also strangely satisfying to conquer.
